We leverage on the “apt” command in order to understand which version is installed. To do so, fire the following command:
sudo apt search wireguard
This will fire you something like the below at you:
sudo apt search wireguard Sorting... Done Full Text Search... Done wireguard/buster-backports,now 1.0.20210223-1~bpo10+1 all [installed] fast, modern, secure kernel VPN tunnel (metapackage) wireguard-dkms/buster-backports,now 1.0.20210219-1~bpo10+1 all [installed,automatic] fast, modern, secure kernel VPN tunnel (DKMS version) wireguard-tools/buster-backports,now 1.0.20210223-1~bpo10+1 amd64 [installed,automatic] fast, modern, secure kernel VPN tunnel (userland utilities)
In the above you can read out 1.0.20210223. This is the version that is running on the system. The version on your system maybe is a different one. In case you like to install the latest version, please check out the additional information.
